We were so excited a couple of weeks ago to have my family come into town to visit. We have missed them so much since moving to San Jose and we couldn't wait to show them around town! These are only a few pictures that were taken as most of them are still on my parents and grandparents cameras.
They got here on Sunday and we had them over to show them our new house and for a yummy BBQ. Kaylee was so excited to see her Aunt Nicole and Janessa we pretty much didn't see them the whole night!
On Monday we started our day by heading over to take a tour of Dan's office. Then we went out to eat at one of our favorite Mexican food restaurants. I love that we are able to eat outside here in San Jose!
After our tummies were all full we of course had to do some shopping- it is what we McMillan girls do best! We hit the mall and then headed to our favorite place the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. YUM!
Makenna was exhausted from a long day of shopping! She looked so cute in her new bright green bow I had to take a picture. Nana set her up with a dozen new bows of every color for her to wear!
On Tuesday we took off for a drive up to San Fransisco. On the way we hit a few highlights. First we stopped in San Carlos to find the house that my Grandpa DeMass lived in when he was a little boy. His aunt and uncle had built the house in 1937 and he lived there with them for three years. The house was very overgrown with trees and shrubbery so it was difficult to see the house or get a picture. So, I decided to climb through a few of the bushes so I could get a picture for my Grandpa. As I peeked through I saw a lady sitting on the front porch staring back at me! I think I about gave her a heart attack! It all ended well though as I went in through the gate and explained why we were snooping around and taking pictures of her house. She was excited to meet my Grandpa and hear the story of how the house was built, what it used to look like, etc. She even let my Grandpa walk through the house which I think made his whole trip. It was very fun to get a little history on my Grandpa's childhood!
Also on the way we drove through the campus of Stanford University. It was a beautiful campus.
In San Fransisco we drove across the Golden Gate bridge and got some great shots of the family!
Grandma and Grandpa DeMass with the city of San Fransisco in the background. We were lucky to be there on such a clear, beautiful day.
Before we left we had to hit the streets of China town for some great deals on fans and silk purses! Kaylee had a blast riding with Grandpa in his wheel chair. The streets were a little steep so we were just glad we didn't loose them both wheeling down the hills of San Fransisco!
On Wednesday the girls headed to the pool with Papa and Grandpa D. Myself, my mom, and my grandma headed off to the outlet stores to do some more shopping! The Gilroy outlets have 250 outlet stores to choose from. We were in heaven!
On Thursday we jumped in the car for another road trip to the Hearst Castle. William Randolph Hearst was a newspaper publisher back in the 20's and 30's. He built this beautiful mansion and was known to have all the A-list celebrities like Charlie Chaplin, Joan Crawford, Cary Grant, Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and many others coming to visit on a regular basis. The estate was gorgeous with a huge main house, many guest houses, and our favorite part the Neptune Pool. It was a very interesting tour and house was amazing!
It was a really hot day and there were hundreds of steps to climb. We were very glad when the tour guide let us sit down for a bit under the misters for a rest! Makenna was loving the tour as you can see :-)
This is Kenna's new favorite position. Lying sideways on dad's arm drooling all over his finger and arm! She is definitely a drooler!
Kenna was so glad to have her Nana here with her. We miss her so much!
For our last stop we headed to the beach at Carmel. We reached it right before sundown and it was so gorgeous. The girls had so much fun running in the waves. Kaylee has been waiting since the first time we took her to the beach a few months ago to take back Nessa and Nicole. It was definitely the highlight of the trip for the girls. We had a great week and miss them now that they are gone! But only a few more weeks until Thanksgiving when we see them again, this time back in Utah!
