Well this is the second trip that Dan and I have taken together, just the two of us, since Kaylee was born three and a half years ago! For us - pretty exciting! For those who have not heard the news yet, Dan has been working very hard at his new job at Wydham and has been offered a promotion in San Jose, California. He starts on June 7th so the last few weeks have been a whirlwind of getting plans put together to move and scheduling between my finishing teaching this school year, Dan starting his new job, and of course little Makenna making her way into the world in the next few weeks! We decided to take this trip out to San Jose so that I could get a feel for the area since Dan will be moving out there without me for about a month while I stay in Utah with my parents to finish the school year and have Makenna.
We stayed at the Hotel Valencia in a part of town called Santana Row. This was quite the happening street we soon found out with tons of really great shops and on a Friday night quite the nightlife with many very hip clubs on the street! The hotel we were at acctually became one of the hippest clubs in town as the courtyard in the middle (right outside our window) turned into a club on Friday night. It was a really nice hotel and it was fun to be right in the middle of San Jose shopping and night life! Don't worry though, we were totally not part of the hip and cool crowd as we were exhausted from our day and I think went to bed at like 10:00! We decided we are pretty boring!
This is view of the roof which was really beauifully decorated to just sit and relax up there and overlook the city. We wish we had had more time to actually take some time to sit and relax up here. San Jose weather is beautiful all year round with temperatures in the 50's, 60's, or 70's. We happened to hit a very unusual hot wave the two days we were here and the temperatures were in the low 100's! Being pregnant in 100 degree weather is not the funnest!
In the morning the hip club courtyard turned into a really nice place to have some breakfast. It was beautiful outside and we really enjoyed being able to eat our yummy breakfast out in the gorgeous courtyard. I think we could get used to this weather and eating outside a bit more often!
One of best parts of the trip is that our rental car was a white convertible! We had a blast riding with the top down (unless in the middle afternoon hours when the temps were over 100!). We drove up to a lake in a small town outside of San Jose called Morgan Hill. There was a nice look over spot where you could see the lake on one side and the city of Morgan Hill on the other. This is the area we are looking to find a house in to move to. We loved the homes and area here and hear that it has a wonderful ward! The lake was beautiful and would be a fun close place to go boating and hang out.
Notice how tan Dan immediately gets in this type of weather and how white I seem to always stay! It is so not fair!

Our Little Dancing Queen!
Our little Kaylee definitely takes after her mom and is our little performer! She just graduated from her first year of dance lessons. She has loved going to dance class every week. She asks every day if it is dancing day! She has been so cute to watch in her class and has really grown a lot not only in dance, but also in making friends with the other girls in her class. She calls them all her "dancing friends"!
This is Kaylee and her cousin Emily. They were born just two months apart and love playing together. It has been so fun to have them in dance class together this year and they have become best dancing friends!
If you ever get the chance you will have to have Kaylee do the "Boogie Woogie" for you. It is so cute! You definitely don't get the effect from the still shot!
Kaylee loves her teacher Miss Kris. I loved this picture because she really does just look at her dance teacher with this awe like she is the most wonderful person in the world! She talks about Miss Kris all the time at home and even makes pretend phone calls to her on her hello kitty cell phone!
